The man suspected of raping a woman at Eighth and Race Streets last month was spotted in Texas last week, police said, but managed to elude authorities.

Navarrete Suarez, 33, was seen in the Dallas area on Saturday. Police say they believe Suarez may have since fled to Mexico, where he is from.

Suarez, who also goes by the name Dario Gómez Lopez, faces charges of rape and attempted murder for his brutal attack of a 22-year-old woman who was waiting for the bus on the night of Aug. 29. Suarez dragged the woman to a secluded area, then assaulted and choked her, police said.

He ran from the scene barefoot and without pants when the sound of approaching sirens startled him, and left behind a wallet containing identification. However, the ID turned out to be fake. Anyone with information is asked to call 215-685-3251.
