Boys' Soccer Players to Watch

Tom Baker, Archbishop Wood, Sr. The two-time all-state selection and regional all-American is coming off a 42-goal season in 2009. He might be the area's most dangerous offensive player.

Matthew Di Liegro, Conwell-Egan, Sr. A first-team all-Catholic League selection in 2009, Di Liegro is a four-year varsity letter-winner.

Chris Somerville, Unionville, Sr. A terrific ball handler, Somerville is the backbone of arguably the best team in the area.

Menvekah Daramay, Upper Moreland, Sr. A 2009 first-team all-Suburban One American Conference selection, Daramay once again should be one of the most feared goal-scorers in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Tim Lazorko, Holy Ghost Prep, Sr. Lazorko hopes to build on his 10-goal, 13-assist season as a junior in 2009.

Adam Moyer, Christopher Dock, Sr. With top scorer Brandon Reichart gone, the spotlight is squarely on Moyer to lead Dock's attack as the team tries to win yet another PIAA Class A title.

Zach Arch, Shipley School, Sr. Arch anchors one of the most formidable backlines in the area. He helped Shipley to 10 shutouts last season. The Gators allowed just 12 goals in 18 games in '09.

Alex Beatty, Haverford School, Sr. The 6-foot-6 Beatty, who committed to Princeton as a junior, proved a force to be reckoned with on any set piece.

Derek Ross, Father Judge, Sr. Ross is the returning leader of a defense trying to blend a new starting goalkeeper and two transfers from North Catholic.

Max Kurtzman, Haverford School, Sr. One of the most highly regarded and heavily recruited goalies in the nation, this member of the U.S. under-18 national team has recorded 31 shutouts in three years for the Fords.
