Atlantic County authorities said a teenage bicyclist was killed early Monday by a hit-and-run driver who was later arrested.
County Prosecutor Ted Housel said Jacob Broschard, 16, of Egg Harbor Township, was riding with two other teens when he was struck about 2 a.m. Housel declined to disclose further details. It was not known whether the other teens were injured.
A 31-year-old Egg Harbor man, William M. Simkins, allegedly fled, Housel said, but was arrested two hours later. Simkins, who was released, faces charges including reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident. More-serious charges could be filed once the investigation is complete, Housel said. - AP
