Just in time for the first day of classes, thieves broke into a Feltonville school to steal equipment and trash classrooms.

Police are still investigating the weekend mischief at the Feltonville Intermediate School. Students returned to the school Tuesday.

On Sunday, individuals broke into the second floor of the school at 238 E. Wyoming at about 5:15 p.m., climbing up a crane that had been used to help replace Feltonville's boiler, according to Fernando Gallard, a Philadelphia School District spokesman.

Story continues below.

They smashed windows, stole three computers and damaged two more, and vandalized four classrooms - upturning equipment and spilling some sort of oily substance. They also graffitied some parts of a hallway.

Crews worked on Labor Day to repair damaged windows and doors. Posters that were ripped down from the hallway were also replaced.

"When the students came in this morning, everything was cleaned and perfect. We were able to have a ready school by this morning," Gallard said.

There are no suspects or leads, Gallard said. The investigation is ongoing.
