Dan Gross: Good stuff for Bensalem singer

CHRISTINA PERRI is wrapping up work on a video for "Jar of Hearts," the mournful ballad that became a top-seller on iTunes after she performed it on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance."

The Bensalem native and Archbishop Ryan graduate is also working on her first album, to be released through Atlantic.

We recently caught up with Perri, whose throat troubles have caused her to cancel a few dates with Jason Mraz.

She started singing at 3, and picked up the guitar and piano around 16. Christina and her guitarist brother, Nick Perri, who played in Silvertide and Shinedown, played together at Christmas. "We're total Christmas song nerds and we learned them all," she explains.

The singer, who moved to Los Angeles four years ago, comes home as often as she can and tries to see her whole family, "which includes my 10,000 Italian cousins," and hangs at her parents' Perri's Barbershop (2755 Hulmeville) with them and their pugs, and must have a Wawa hoagie, dinner at the Eddington House (2813 Hulmeville) in Bensalem and a steak from Steve's Steaks (Comly & Roosevelt Blvd.) when in town.

As for where she hopes to perform here on tour, Perri says she's been to the TLA, Trocadero and Electric Factory "a million times to see my favorites, so I would love to play them."

HBO stars coming to A.C.

HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" is hosting a 1920s-themed red-carpet screening at Caesars Circus Maximus Theatre on Sept. 16 followed by a "Prohibition's Eve" party at One Atlantic at the Pier Shops at Caesars. The show, created by Terence Winter, stars Steve Buscemi as a Prohibition-era bootlegger in Atlantic City.

Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg are among the producers.

It's not yet known what stars will appear at the invitation-only bash, but 1,920 hotel rooms at Caesars, Harrah's, Bally's and Showboat will be priced at $19.20 per night in celebration of the show, which premieres Sept. 19.

Club Dusk at Caesars, which is open until 4 a.m., is hosting a "Boardwalk Empire" after-party.

Busy weekend at Borgata

Stone Temple Pilots front man Scott Weiland and his bandmates brought their kids out on stage at the end of their Friday-night show at the Borgata, where Jackson Browne and the Roots also played this weekend. ?uestlove spun the after-party Sunday at club Mixx, where Taio Cruz performed. And DJ Steve Aoki finished the weekend at mur.mur.
