YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School will receive $64,860 from a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation that will be used to expand a program that helps students become certified nurse's aides.
YouthBuild in North Philadelphia enrolls people ages 16 to 24 who have left school. The charter provides classes so participants can earn high school diplomas while obtaining on-the-job training and performing community service.
The Philadelphia charter is one of 35 YouthBuild programs nationwide receiving funding from a $2.6 million Wal-Mart Foundation grant. - Martha Woodall
