Pa. Boys: Santoleri's goal lifts Methacton to soccer win

Anthony Santoleri wasn't playing golf, but converted a great chip shot nonetheless.

Santoleri chipped a soccer ball over the head of the Upper Merion goalie and handed Methacton a 1-0 win over the host Vikings in a nonleague game Tuesday.

Santoleri scored off an assist from Kyle Rioboli and found the range with 28 minutes left in the game. Warriors' goalie Scott Markle preserved the shutout with four saves while Grant Deiner and Alec Duong contributed strong efforts.

St. Joseph's Prep goalie Nick Bruno turned aside three shots for the hosts and Haverford School keeper Max Kurtzman faced just one shot in a 0-0 double-overtime tie.

Archbishop Ryan used goals by Bret Beaumont and Miguel Rendon to get past visiting Central Bucks South, 2-1.

Eric Cruddle allowed a second-half goal by Chris Crews, but picked up the win after saving nine shots for the Raiders.

Dan Matthews picked up a goal and assisted on the game winner for Wissahickon in a 2-1 victory over visiting Central Bucks East.

Brendan Irvine scored the winning goal on a header with three minutes remaining.

Preston Dennis, Omar Randall, and Thomas Shiiba struck for second-half goals and lifted Strath Haven past visiting Chestnut Hill Academy, 3-2.

Joey Hansen, Justin Hiltwine and Ray Jimenez found the range for Father Judge in a 3-1 win over Penn Charter at the United German Hungarian Club in Oakford.

Brian Moore scored the first and third goals of the game and boosted Garnet Valley to a 4-0 win over host Interboro.

Moore scored the game-winning goal 13 minutes into the first half. Dave Boselli and Grant Woodworth also found the range for the Jaguars who built a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Kevin Stripling earned the shutout in goal after stopping three shots while Interboro goalie Mark Whitam turned aside seven shots.

Haverford High jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and handled visiting Academy Park, 4-0.

The Fords got goals from Tony Baldini, Jeff Gottfried, Bobby Kane and Casey Michaelis. Branden Fitzpatrick earned the win in goal after stopping four shots.

Chris Pawlowski collected two goals and Christian Hall added a pair of assists to lead La Salle past visiting Central, 4-0.

Also scoring for the Explorers were Darius Madison and Matt Rose.

Jose Ponce struck for a hat trick and boosted Norristown to a 4-0 win over host Ridley.

Brian Aller notched a hat trick and led Malvern Prep to a 7-1 win over visiting Friends' Central.

Melvin Snoh collected a pair of goals for the Friars.
