GOLF: Bill Haas shot a 3-under 69 to take a four-stroke lead at the Viking Classic in Madison, Miss., overcoming three bogeys and a double bogey after playing error free the first two rounds. Haas was at 15-under 201. Michael Allen, Nathan Green and Brendon de Jonge were tied for second at 205.
Fred Couples shot a 6-under 66 to take a 1-stroke lead over Bernhard Langer into the final round of the Ensure Classic. Couples was at 12-under 132 after Saturday's second round in the Champions Tour event at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.
AUTO RACING: Joey Logano held off teammate Kyle Busch on two late restarts to win the Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway. Logano got past Busch on a restart with six laps remaining, but a crash brought out a caution flag a lap later. Logano sealed the win when a huge push from points leader Brad Keselowski in the final restart gave him the run he needed to break free of Busch. Keselowski finished second and Busch faded to third.
Dario Franchitti won his third IndyCar championship, wearing down points leader Will Power and then smartly avoiding disaster in the season finale, the Cafes do Brasil Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. The 37-year-old Scotsman finished eighth behind winner Scott Dixon to edge Power by five points.
CYCLING: Spanish cyclist Margarita Fullana, 38, admitted to doping after the International Cycling Union revealed that a urine sample contained the banned substance EPO.
Fullana, who was provisionally suspended, said on her website that a positive result came after an out-of-competition test in Canada in September. She acknowledged that she had committed a "stupid" act and would "accept my sanction and turn the page."
