A woman was bound, raped, and robbed of $8,000 by an assailant Tuesday afternoon in Northeast Philadelphia, police said. The attack occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Lester Road in Parkwood Manor when the woman answered her door and was accosted by a man with a gun, police said. The woman was tied up and suffered blows to her head, police said. The assailant also stole three laptop computers. The woman initially declined to be taken to a hospital. However, she was reported hospitalized Tuesday night and detectives with the Special Victims Unit confirmed that they were investigating the case. - Robert Moran
