Is this the end for Brett Favre?

  • Things are not going well this season for Drew Brees and the Saints, who have generated only 99 points in five games.

Injuries could never sideline Brett Favre, but it's possible the indestructable quarterback has finally run into something that will end his longevity streak.

The NFL is pressing its investigation into whether the Vikings' quarterback sent racy e-mail pics to former Playboy model Jenn Sterger while he was with the New York Jets in 2008 and she was a Jets game-day hostess.

Favre apologized to his teammates for the distraction as they prepared for Monday night's game against, irony of ironies, the Jets in New York.

The NFL is trying to determine if the three-time MVP violated its personal-conduct policy. Should the league find he did, Favre could be fined or suspended.

Story continues below.

"The first thing you want to do is find out the facts, and that's what we're trying to do," commissioner Roger Goodell said. "Once we determine those facts, then we'll determine what the next step is from there, if any."

Last week, the website Deadspin posted a story that included several voicemails allegedly sent by Favre to Sterger. The voicemails include a man asking to meet with Sterger, now a TV personality for the Versus network.

The website posted a video that contained the voicemails and several graphic photos - said to be of Favre - that were allegedly sent to Sterger's cell phone.

Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, has declined to say if his client is cooperating with the NFL or has a lawyer.

Deadspin's Terez Owens reported on Monday that Sterger will be let go by Versus and that the former Playboy model has been contacted by the magazine for a second shoot.

Deadspin also reported that Favre pursued two female massage therapists who worked part-time for the team. Deadspin did not identify the women, but a Jets spokesman said the team was giving contact information for the two women to the league.

Hard to believe

Jacksonville has scored 107 points. New Orleans, which led the league in scoring three of the last four years, has scored 99 points.

Chicago quarterback Todd Collins completed six passes and threw four interceptions Sunday, and the Bears still beat Carolina by 17 points! Maybe that's why the Panthers are 0-5.

You're on the air

Versus, which most fans couldn't identify ("Is that a channel that plays music one verse at a time?") is getting free publicity by the truckload right now.

The T.Ocho Show - a talk cohosted by Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco - will debut on the network on Tuesday night.

Owens, as usual, isn't bashful. Asked if he's in danger of being overexposed, the receiver said, "With the two of us, I don't think you can really get enough of us."

I'm in charge

New England coach Bill Belichick downplayed talk of a dispute between quarterback Tom Brady and Randy Moss having led to last week's trade of the receiver to Minnesota.

"Tom doesn't make personnel decisions," he said.
