Sixers waive Plaisted, Quinn

Posted: October 22, 2010

The 76ers waived forward Trent Plaisted and guard Chris Quinn on Thursday, trimming their roster to 14 players for the start of the season.

All remaining players have guaranteed contracts.

Plaisted, a forward-center from Brigham Young, and Quinn, a point guard with NBA experience, were considered long shots to make the roster, which can have a maximum of 15 players.

The Sixers also announced that they exercised a third-year option on point guard Jrue Holiday and a fourth-year option on big man Marreese Speights. Both players are under contract through the 2011-12 season.

The Sixers did not practice Thursday. They will return to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on Friday.

Coach Doug Collins, who missed the team's last two preseason games with dizziness and headaches from a concussion suffered in May, is expected at Friday's practice.

The Sixers open the regular season Wednesday night against the Miami Heat at the Wells Fargo Center.
