The message was quite clear for the thug who beat community activist Marsha Moore within an inch of her life last week in her Kingsessing home: Turn yourself in.

An $11,000 reward was offered yesterday for information leading to Moore's attacker.

"We're taking this very seriously. She was a person trying to do the right thing," Mayor Nutter said at a news conference to announce the reward. "Marsha Moore is not just a community leader but a friend, and I don't let nobody mess with my friends. If you have any common decency for yourself, turn yourself in."

Moore, 52, had one of two surgeries at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania yesterday to reconstruct her face after a thug kicked down her rear door and beat her with a pipe as she slept in her home on Oct. 29. He got away with a few pieces of jewelry.

Moore is a member of the Southwest Philadelphia Community Advisory Group, founder of the Southwest Positive Powerful Advocates for Change and a representative of Police Service Area 4.

"She's a soldier," said her husband, Robert Moore, a veteran and police chaplain. "She told me: 'I might not be in the Marine Corps but I have my strength.' "

"Every day she has put her life on the line," said state Sen. Anthony H. Williams. "It's immoral for someone to do what they did. We are coming to get you. "

Yesterday's event was organized by state Rep. Kenyatta Johnson. The money is being donated by Williams, the Fund for Philadelphia, the Citizens Crime Commission and the 12th Police District.

Police said they have no suspects. Tipsters should call 215-546-TIPS.
