Letters: Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council applauds Teva's decision to come to Philadelphia

Posted: November 22, 2010

ON BEHALF of the Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, I'd like to welcome Teva and thank them for choosing to expand their business here. The fact that a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry would choose our city for such a significant investment is something we can all be proud of.

This investment could not come at a better time. Teva's plans will be a positive addition to the community and will generate millions in tax benefits for the city and the commonwealth.

As the economy continues to struggle, this project will put hundreds of people to work immediately in construction jobs and another several hundred people to work at the facility as it comes on line. These jobs mean good, family-sustaining wages for our residents, revenues for our city and more investments for our communities.

People who live in the neighborhood have told me how excited they are. These are hardworking people just looking to provide for their families, and Teva will bring hundreds of new, permanent jobs to our community.

The Philadelphia Building Trades Council is looking forward to working with Teva to make this project a complete success.
