The Quakers are 9-1 and this week moved up to 13th in the FCS poll, after being 16th last week.
The winner will be announced on Jan. 6, the night before the FCS championship game.
In other Penn football news, sophomore running back Brandon Colavita, of Washington Township (N.J.) High, and senior safety Josh Powers earned weekly honors from the Ivy League. Colavita was named Ivy League co-offensive player of the week and Powers won the defensive player of the week.
Colavita scored three touchdowns and rushed for 103 yards in a 31-7 win over Cornell. Powers had 11 tackles, two pass breakups and his first career sack.
PSU's Dailey honored
Penn State safety Andrew Dailey was named Big Ten co-special teams player of the week after blocking a punt that was returned for a touchdown. The play helped the Nittany Lions defeat Indiana, 41-24. Dailey shares the award with Michigan State's Denicos Allen, who blocked a Purdue punt late in the game to set-up the Spartans' game-winning score.
Devlin wins award
Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin, of Downingtown, was voted CAA offensive player of the year. Devlin has completed 179 of 266 passes for 2,158 yards and 14 touchdowns. The selections were made in a vote by the 10 CAA coaches.
Rhode Island coach Joe Trainer, a former Villanova assistant, was picked coach of the year. His Rams are 4-4 after going winless last season. William & Mary junior kick returner Jonathan Grimes, of Palmyra, N.J., was voted special teams player of the year.
Villanova had five players voted to the All-CAA first team. They are: Norman White, junior wide receiver; Brant Clouser, senior offensive lineman; Ben Ijalana, senior offensive lineman; Marquis Kirkland, senior linebacker; and Terence Thomas, senior linebacker. *
