FORMER "Access Hollywood" host Nancy O'Dell says she always wanted to front a New Year's Eve show but had always been shut out from working the late, noisemaker/ball-drop shift because she had to be up early to co-host the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Now that she's done with "AH" and no longer part of the NBC family, Nancy is spending a night at Fox to host "New Year's Eve Live" (11 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Friday) from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"I'm going to be one uber-excited host," Nancy said by phone earlier this month. "It will be unique and different, and it's Vegas so you never know what's going to happen."

Story continues below.

Guests include "American Idol" finalist David Archuleta ("Parents approve," she said, "so both parents and children can watch") and Travie McCoy.

Nancy is especially excited to ring in 2011 because it's going to be a big year for her.

She'll soon start hosting "Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star" for the Oprah Winfrey Network and do reports for "Entertainment Tonight," before filling Mary Hart's high heels at the end of the season.

"Mary is a TV icon," Nancy said, "the one who started it all."

No pressure.

What Nancy likes about "ET" is that the show is "classy" and has "always stayed true to its format. It delivers news but it doesn't feel sensationalized, and it is the No. 1 entertainment show so it must be doing something right."

Nancy also will continue her fundraising work in the fight to cure muscular dystrophy and helping Jerry Lewis on the MDA Telethon. She's a strong believer in the work the telethon does, so don't go questioning Lewis' motives around her.

"When my mom was diagnosed with ALS [Lou Gehrig's disease], I had no idea what to do," she said. "The people at MDA said they would be there for me every single day, and I told them 'Whatever you guys need, I'll be there for you.' "

Not every celeb moped about inconvenience during the big East Coast blizzard.

Entrepreneurial 50 Cent made some money off the snow.

Billboard.com reported that 50 Cent offered to shovel his Connecticut neighbors' walks.

"I'm going out to shovel snow and see if I can make me a few extra dollars today," 50 Cent tweeted on Monday afternoon. "I'm charging more if they want to take pictures."

His price? "I want a hundred dollars per house. I bet anybody I'll make a grand moving snow today." Soon after, he tweeted that four people had agreed to pay the fee and that he'd hired "employees" to increase efficiency.
