Letters: Philadelphia fans heartbroken by the Eagles

Posted: January 11, 2011

AWOMAN becomes engaged to a wonderful man. They don't set a date, and a year goes by. Then five. Then 10. One morning, she wakes up and realizes it's never going to happen. It's never going to happen with Andy Reid. Never going to happen with the Eagles.

Their last NFL championship (only half a championship because the AFL had its own) was on Dec. 26, 1960. JFK had been elected, but Eisenhower was still president. The Dallas Cowboys had just played their first season. Should we keep waiting as years turn into decades turn into a century? Or should we finally admit that the wonderful man has no intention of getting married?

Whose idea was the Eagles' heart poster?

Heart? Asante Samuel avoids contact any time he can. One of the least physical corners in the NFL. Michael Vick, when did he have his installed? He didn't have one a few years back. DeSean Jackson? I'll give him half credit. Has heart when things are going good. Sulks and whines when not going so good.

Recall the poster and redo it with Jeremiah Trotter, Brian Westbrook and Brian Dawkins. Now that's heart.

More parking outrages

Re Pat Dever's Jan. 5 letter on saving parking spaces:

That's as much a tradition as double parking is in South Philly and parking in the middle of Broad Street. Isn't that theft of public property, too?

I'm appalled there is no one in Philly parking enforcement who has the guts to give these people tickets.
