I believe the Supreme Court mangled the Constitution when it ruled in favor of gun ownership in recent cases. The National Rifle Association has too much power and political pull and too many politicians bow to its wishes and its money. What has to happen to bring us to our senses and to understand that violence will only increase with more guns in the hands of more and more people? I fear for our country and our young people.

I was appalled by the horrific incident in Tucson, and then disgusted with the eagerness of so many to politicize the tragedy.

Yes, the decision by the operators of Sarah Palin's website to "target" political opponents was uncalled for, but it's still just a clumsily constructed metaphor. Palin wasn't advocating violence toward anyone.

The person responsible is the one who pulled the trigger, and we dishonor the victims when we use their murder as a weapon for bludgeoning our political opponents.
