  • Blue Mountain and lacrosse? It's where the Philadelphia Wings Dance Team shot their calendar.

One of Philly's top restaurants could be getting a makeover.

The Four Seasons Hotel confirms that it has explored the option of bringing in an independent restaurateur to run the signature Fountain room, which appears at or near the top of every guidebook there is.

Sources tell me that restaurateurs including Marc Vetri and Stephen Starr have been spoken to and that one plan calls for an exclusive entrance to be carved out on the building's Logan Circle side. Guests now pass through doors off 18th Street into the lobby, which with the ballroom is nearly ready after a $900,000 makeover.

Story continues below.

A Four Seasons rep said other Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts nationally have been rethinking their restaurants. (Aujourd'hui in Boston closed in mid-2009.) But, she cautioned, there is no plan in place for anyone to come in and take over the Fountain and there is no deal with anyone.

A rump Wing Bowl?

Competitive-eating stars Joey Chestnut and Sonya Thomas will gather on Feb. 1 in Dallas for the Wingstop World Wing-Eating Championship. As it is three days before the 19th annual Wing Bowl at the Wells Fargo Center, WIP is calling a foul.

George Shea, head of the eating-sanctioning body Major League Eating, scoffs at any notion that the Texas contest, sponsored by the Wingstop eatery chain, might be trying to steal Wing Bowl's thunder.

Shea says Super Bowl and wings go together naturally. And his contest is not a spectacle. "We leave the babes and Mardi Gras vibe to Al [Morganti] and Angelo [Cataldi]," Shea said.
