Source: Eagles interview Vikings' Woods

Another day, another candidate.

The Eagles interviewed Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Joe Woods yesterday for their vacant defensive coordinator position, a league source confirmed.

The team had interviewed Chicago Bears defensive backs coach Jon Hoke on Monday.

Everybody interviewed so far has coached defensive backs, including Dennis Allen, who was hired by the Denver Broncos as their defensive coordinator.

A team source has said the Eagles intend to interview at least one coach from the Super Bowl staffs, who can't be approached until after Sunday's game.

Woods, 40, has been with the Vikings since 2006 and came to Minnesota after two seasons with Tampa Bay, along with Mike Tomlin, who went on to become head coach of the Steelers.

News of Woods' interview with the Eagles was initially reported by WIP's Howard Eskin.

While in Minnesota, Woods worked for head coach Brad Childress, a former Eagles offensive coordinator. Childress was replaced during this past season by defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who increased the role of the defensive coaches.

Woods played safety at Illinois State from 1988 to '91 and then spent 12 years at various colleges, including Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Hofstra and Western Michigan.
