With Delaware and coach Monte Ross next up for the Dragons, Flint knows what to expect from Drexel's longtime rivals. The Blue Hens are 11-11 and 6-6 under Flint's old friend. They sent the Dragons home with a loss in each of the last two seasons.
"It's always a tough game down there," said Flint, who picked up his 250th career win against Towson. "Those guys play us really well in that building, and they always have. And they're going to be ready. They talk about it in the school paper. How big this game is for them down there."
Massenat comes up big
Freshman guard Frantz Massenat bailed out Drexel against Towson by scoring five points over a 27-second span in the last minute.
A Trenton Catholic graduate, Massenat finished with 11 points and eight assists in a game in which the Dragons did not look like a contender.
"We can beat anybody and we can lose to anybody," Flint said. "I say that to the team all the time."
Massenat was asked about the challenges of Division I basketball.
"Mentally, it's much harder," Massenat said with a smile as he shot a glance at Flint, a former point guard at St. Joseph's. "Being a point guard and playing for a point guard. All the instruction and discipline. But I'm starting to get it."
McCoy scores again
After going pointless over three games, Dragons forward Daryl McCoy chipped in with eight points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds against Towson.
Flint said he was not alarmed by McCoy's scoring drought. The 6-foot-8 sophomore from Hartford, Conn., is averaging 6.2 points and 8.4 rebounds and giving Drexel a physical presence around the basket defensively.
"I never worry about Daryl scoring points," Flint said. "It's not like we go to him. He usually gets his points off rebounds. I just make sure he rebounds and defends because that's what he does for us."
