Police are investigating a home invasion robbery in Mayfair today during which the thieves made off with cash, a diamond tennis bracelet and a pistol.

Police said a 31-year-old man opened the door to his home about 10:20 a.m. to find an acquaintance who apparently had been beaten accompanied by three other men who were masked and armed.

The homeowner's 4-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son also were in the house on the 3400 block of Friendship Street in Mayfair, police said.

The three men forced the man, his children and the acquaintance to sit on a couch while they ransacked the residence, police said

They took nearly $200 in cash, the bracelet and a 9mm handgun, police said.
