  • "DWTS" was a big surprisefor Wendy Williams.

Surprised that syndicated talk-show host and former Power 99 personality Wendy Williams is a member of the Season 12 "Dancing with the Stars" cast?

So is she.

"I would never have thought I'd be dancing on 'Dancing with the Stars' in my wildest dreams," admitted Williams, 46, in a recent phone chat during a break in her five-hour-a-day "DWTS" rehearsal schedule. "I'm not a dancer. I have two left feet, and I'm tall and I'm large. I never took a step of ballet as a little girl. I just had a different experience as a teenager and young woman."

So, does her upcoming "DWTS" stint, which begins Monday on ABC, finally make her one of the cool girls?

Story continues below.

"I think I became one of the cool girls a long time ago," laughed Williams, whose gabfest airs weekdays at 10 a.m. on Fox 29.

"Dancing" won't be the only springtime TV venture for Williams, who has been paired with "DWTS" vet Tony Dovolani. April 18 will see the Game Show Network premiere of "Love Triangle," which she'll host. She described it as "an adult dating show" that's "sexy and good."

Williams' live talk show - which has been on hiatus for the past two weeks to allow her to train for "DWTS" - shoots in New York, and "Dancing with the Stars" is produced in Hollywood.

Although she acknowledged that "there will be some schlepping involved," she has decided to do the bicoastal thing, rather than move her show to the Left Coast, in order to not disrupt the life of her 10-year-old son, Kevin.

As if all of this weren't enough, tomorrow night Williams will host and DJ an event at The Pool After Dark, at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City (10 p.m., $30, ticketmaster.com).

Although her "DWTS" gig is one reason for the bash, Williams insisted that she doesn't really need an excuse to party.

"Any time is the right time to celebrate, as far as I'm concerned," she insisted.

"If there's one thing I like . . . I love a good party. It's just a celebration of life."
