April 13, 2011|Inquirer Staff Report

Sixteen people were taken to hospitals this morning following two separate crashes involving SEPTA buses in the city.

All the injuries appeared to be minor, said SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch.

In the first accident, eight people were taken to hospitals following a crash just after 8 a.m. involving a Route 50 bus and a car in the outer southbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at Holme Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia's Rhawnhurst section.

About 90 minutes later, a Route 54 bus eastbound on Lehigh Avenue was rear ended by a SEPTA utility truck at 30th Street in North Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section.

Eight people there also reported they were injured and were taken to hospitals for examination and treatment, Busch said.
