Lincoln Financial Field again to host Eagles All-Star Classic

April 21, 2011

The Eagles City High School All-Star Classic, the annual football showdown between the top players from the Public and Non-Public schools, will return to Lincoln Financial Field for a second year.

The 37th edition of the Classic is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m.

The Non-Publics won last year's game at the Linc, 16-15, and lead the series, 20-15-1.

Almost all of the games have been played at Northeast High's Charlie Martin Memorial Stadium, with two contests at Franklin Field.

Story continues below.

"We're very happy for this to be the second year at Lincoln Financial Field," Eagles chief operating officer Don Smolenski said. "Last year it was a great event and a big success. With the feedback from the kids who participated and the parents on how great an experience it was, it was a natural for us to continue this.

"Hopefully, we will continue to grow it with the goal of being able to generate additional scholarships for these kids to go to college."

Fels coach Bill Harrigan will lead the Public team, and Rick Knox, from Chestnut Hill Academy, will coach the Non-Public team.

Tickets are on sale at philadelphiaeagles.com. Tickets are $8 in advance with a $2 ticket fee.

The Daily News is a media partner for the game.
