The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and the University City Science Center reached an agreement that gives the Science Center 10 more years to complete the development of its 17-acre campus along Market Street between 34th and 39th Streets, the Science Center said.
The agreement also allows for a three-year extension beyond the 10, but the Science Center would have to pay a fee to exercise it.
The RDA had moved in 2008 to seize the lots, which comprise most of the south side of the 3800 block of Market Street, because the Science Center failed to fulfill a 2006 agreement to start development by June 2007 and finished it by May 2009.
