Five start-ups presented at Switch Philly, an event produced by the technology blog www.TechnicallyPhilly.com. Here's a bit more detail on two that especially caught my eye:
cWyze "aims to take video advertisements to the next level" by making them interactive, and thus more valuable for engaging consumers.
App maker Laan Labs demonstrated Tap DJ, an iPhone app "that turns your phone into a fully functioning turntable set by pulling music directly from your iPod library."
BrainRewards showed Ohanarama, a gaming platform that aims to bring far-flung families closer together by encouraging intergenerational play on its website and Facebook app.
Catapulter, which aims to be the "Kayak.com of ground transportation," offers a search engine for finding the quickest or least-expensive combinations of travel modes that can get travelers from Point A to Point B.
Coursekit hopes to create an online education network by offering an online platform for college classes that can replace "the clunky software" that it says has dominated online learning since the 1990s.
