Memorial Day at Constitution Center
The National Constitution Center will host a Memorial Day weekend celebration Saturday through Monday, allowing families to participate in free activities that teach the history of the holiday.
During the festivities, children can hear how poppies came to be the symbol of Memorial Day following World War I. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be craft activity tables and families can create memorial poppy pins and American star memorial wreaths. The center will sponsor "Patriotic Karaoke," when visitors can sing American anthems.
Each morning through Memorial Day there will be an American flag-raising ceremony, and proper flag-raising procedures will be taught. Visitors can also learn about the history of monuments throughout the country in the 20-minute, interactive program "Memorials: How a Nation Remembers" at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. On Sunday, karaoke and craft activities will take place from noon to 3.
The center's core exhibit, "The Story of We the People," continues during the weekend celebration.

Memorial Day at Children's Museum
Delaware Children's Museum offers storytelling, crafts, and more activities from Saturday through Memorial Day.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., kids can have fun decorating patriotic windsocks and taking part in other arts activities. Children can hear fun stories about summer from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From 1 until 3:30 kids can play beach volleyball and other games in "Surfin' USA" while listening to summer music.
Memorial Day Weekend at Delaware Children's Museum, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday through Monday at the Delaware Children's Museum, 550 Justison St., Wilmington.
