A man in his late 20s was shot multiple times in his chest and shoulder on Yocum Street near 60th, in Southwest Philadelphia, about 12:15 p.m. yesterday, police said. The victim, whose identity was not released yesterday, was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 12:34 p.m., said Homicide Detective Jimmy Crone.

The suspect, who rode up to the victim on a bicycle, has not been arrested. Police described him as a black male in his early 20s, who was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, according to Officer Christine O'Brien, a police spokeswoman.

2SHOOTING OUTSIDE FELTONVILLE BAR

A 26-year-old man was shot in the head outside the Bottoms Up Bar, on Wyoming Avenue near 5th Street, in Feltonville, early Sunday, police said. The victim, whom police did not identify, was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was still listed in critical condition yesterday.

Det. Charles "Chuck" Perma said that no witnesses have come forward to give any possible motive for the shooting, which took place shortly before 2 a.m. "There were no witnesses, no motive" so far, Perma said. "It's unclear whether he had been in the bar earlier or had argued with anyone."

He said that detectives working the case haven't been able to talk with anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting.

3GREEDY ROBBER'S LACK OF WITS GETS HIM CAUGHT

An unidentified man had trouble fleeing after he robbed a Rhawnhurst Wawa at knifepoint, police said.

Once the sticky-fingered suspect left the store with $2,200 in cash, he rushed to his unlocked van on Arthur Street near Castor Avenue, said Sgt. Tom Fleming, of Northeast Detectives. Unlucky for him, he couldn't find his keys and turned on the van light. When he saw police patrolling the block, he tried to bend down to hide, but the sharp-eyed cops soon spotted him.

The man, 34, whose identity was withheld by police, tried to escape but police ran after him and tased him. He was arrested and charged with robbery, theft and other crimes, Fleming said.

He had entered the store, on Castor Avenue near Rhawn Street, about 3:30 a.m. and approached the shift manager, waving a knife in her face and demanding that she open the store safe, said Officer Christine O'Brien.
