ROB McELHENNEY, the only locally born star of FX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," is going method - De Niro-as-LaMotta method - for next season.

Screen Junkies reports that the usually svelte McElhenney, who plays Mac, gained 50 pounds for the irreverent comedy.

Why? Because fat people are funny.

"It's been disgusting to watch him go through with this adventure," said Charlie Day, who plays the aptly named Charlie (the show's best character). "We were a little on the fence about it for his own personal health and safety."

Story continues below.

Screen Junkies revealed other details about the next season, which premieres in September. This season will be darker than previous years', with an episode based on a real-life "Pretty Woman" scenario and one set at a children's beauty pageant. Guest stars will include "The Wire"/"Fringe's" Lance Reddick, character actor Jon Polito as Frank's (Danny DeVito) brother and the band Kings of Leon. The gang will also head out of the city once again, this time down the Shore.

How much you want to bet they head to Wildwood?

Dark days

Viral sensation Rebecca Black, who raked in the publicity (and dough) after her song "Friday" became a national punchline, has pulled from YouTube the video that made her famous.

Black's lawyers say that Ark Music Factory violated copyright and exploited Black for publicity. The lawyers claim that Ark Music Factory was more like a recording studio than a record label, so it didn't have the right to do things like sell "Friday" ringtones.

Lower your 'Voice'

We have to admit, we are huge fans of NBC's "The Voice," especially after sitting through too many subpar seasons of "American Idol." But hold onto your swivel chairs, folks, because the Hollywood Reporter says that judge Christina Aguilera makes $225,000 an episode, triple that of the other judges - Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton.

We're totally digging on Team Christina - or Team Bald, as we like to call her remaining contestants, husky-voiced Beverly McClellan and powerhouse diva Frenchie Davis - but we doubt she deserves three times more than her judge-mates.

*  Speaking of reality-show judges, ousted

"Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi will make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in "Chicago" for eight weeks starting Sept. 5.
