Major League Soccer

Sporting Kansas City (3-6-4) at Union (6-4-4).

Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. at PPL Park. TV: The Comcast Network.

Most recent games: Kansas City is coming off Friday's 1-0 win over visiting San Jose, snapping the Earthquakes' six-game unbeaten streak. The Union lost, 1-0, at Vancouver on Saturday.

Outlook: Kansas City is 2-6-3 on the road while the Union is 4-0-3 at PPL Park. Coached by Delran graduate Peter Vermes, Sporting has allowed just two goals in the last five games. Rookie forward C.J. Sapong scored the goal while keeper Jimmy Nielsen recorded his first shutout of the season. The Union look to bounce back from Saturday's loss to a Whitecaps team that had just one previous victory this season. Forward Carlos Ruiz has returned to the Union after competing for Guatemala in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, although team manager Peter Nowak said Tuesday he hasn't decided if Ruiz will play against Kansas City. Even though Sporting is last in the nine-team Eastern Conference and the Union are second, Kansas City has scored 17 goals in 13 games, while the Union have scored 16 goals in 14 games.
