Phillies-Red Sox fun stuff

* As Boston visits the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park for three games, one hot topic among Red Sox fans is how manager Terry Francona would arrange his lineup in National League parks where the designated hitter does not play. The only option Francona would have to get David Ortiz in his lineup is to play him at first base and move Adrian Gonzalez to the outfield. This would give Boston its strongest lineup, but would severely hurt the Red Sox defensively. In the three games at Pittsburgh, Francona did not play the lefthanded-hitting Ortiz. And with the Phillies starting lefties Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels in Games 1 and 3 of this series, he might only be tempted to start Ortiz against righthander Vance Worley tomorrow.

* The Red Sox started the season 0-6. They are 45-26 (.634) since. The Phillies started 5-1 and are 44-29 (.603) since.

*The Phillies are 3-9 on Tuesday, 12-1 on Wednesday and 6-3 on Thursday. Boston's marks are 3-8 on Tuesday, 5-6 on Wednesday and 6-2 on Thursday. The Phils are 18-6 in day games, while Boston is 18-7. Thursday is a 1:05 start.

* Boston's Jon Lester is one of four pitchers to register at least 15 wins, 200 innings and 150 strikeouts each season during the years 2008-10. Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum and CC Sabathia are the others.

* Ryan Howard has played 78 games at first base and committed just two errors. He had 14 in each of the last two seasons.
