Arcidiacono commits to Rutgers

Posted: July 06, 2011

Citing the program's family atmosphere, Archbishop Wood offensive lineman Brandon Arcidiacono orally committed to Rutgers in a press conference Wednesday at the Warminster school.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder, projected to be a center in college, chose the Scarlet Knights over West Virginia, Connecticut, Boston College and Villanova, among others. The Holland resident had 15 scholarship offers.

Arcidiacono, who doubles as a defensive tackle, became the second member of Wood's Class of 2012 to commit to Rutgers, joining fleet-footed running back and kick returner Desmon Peoples.

Last season, while helping the Vikings go 13-1 and advance to the PIAA Class AAA state semifinals, Arcidiacono earned Inquirer second-time all-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors. He was a first-team all-Catholic selection.

Arcidiacono's brother, Mark, starred as an offensive linemen at St. Joseph's Prep (Class of 2009) and is now a 6-4, 285-pound redshirt sophomore guard at Penn State.
