What patrons say about Downey's Irish Pub

Thirty patrons have posted comments on Yelp.com about their experiences at Downey's, giving the pub a measly 2 1/2 stars. Here's a list of some comments made before the makeover:

James B., of Philadelphia: "I really can't fathom the 1 star reviews here and can only assume they are extremely outdated opinions. Downey's is a totally fun place that really stands out from many of the crowded Irish bars in the same area that are full of half-wits, loudmouths and generally drunken a-holes." Five stars (Jan. 12)

Alexandra W., of Philadelphia: "I'm pretty sure this is where people go to die. The only reason I was here is because of the Karaoke Finals. I've made a huge mistake." One star (March 9)

Melissa M., of Philadelphia: "The one star that I gave this place is even way too generous. I was there on Halloween 2010 with my friend, when I see a roach crawl across the bar. I was horrified. . . . Oh and the restroom stinks like an outhouse. Not to mention it looks as though it hasn't been cleaned in a year or five." One star (Feb. 13)

Meg A., of Philadelphia: "We all raised our glasses and one of the men looks into his glass and makes a SOUND, a sort of I-think-I-am-going-to-be-sick sound. There was a fly in his shot." One star ( Dec. 1)
