Frontier Airlines warns of more flight cancellations

Posted: July 14, 2011

Planning to fly Frontier Airlines on Friday? You might want to check your flight status.

The airline says a severe hailstorm over Denver International Airport, Frontier's hometown airport, Wednesday night left many planes damaged and numerous flights canceled. Additional cancellations are expected.

"The timing of this damaging storm couldn't have been worse," said Cliff Van Leuven, vice president of customer service. "High summer travel loads and the fact that other carriers at DIA were hit make it difficult to place passengers with other airlines, so we are doing all we can to minimize the pain of our guests' travel."

The airline asks customers who have booked travel on Frontier to check the status of their flights at www.FrontierAirlines.com.

"Despite the fact that these cancellations were out of Frontier's control, we are doing everything humanly possible to live up to our commitment to provide for the needs of our guests in the aftermath of this storm," Van Leuven said. He said this includes reaccommodating passengers on other airlines, when there is availability, and providing lodging as might be needed at no cost for guests stranded away from their home city by the cancellations.   - Inquirer staff
