Rollins not concerned with leg in Phils' win

NEW YORK - Jimmy Rollins left Saturday's 11-2 loss to the New York Mets after grounding into a double play in the top of the seventh inning and when asked if he was OK, said: "Unfortunately, no."

After the game, manager Charlie Manuel said Rollins had tightness in his right leg. Rollins said Saturday he was not concerned about the leg and showed it in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Mets. Rollins went 3 for 5 with one run and two RBIs.

Rollins said the score on Saturday, which was 7-2 at the time, probably had something to do with his being pulled.

"There was definitely nothing wrong, as I said Saturday," said Rollins, who is hitting .400 (20 for 50) with seven RBIs and seven runs scored over his last 11 games. "If something is wrong, I tell the truth, and I will tell you."

Polanco progressing

Third baseman Placido Polanco, who is on the disabled list with lower-back inflammation, said he is encouraged by his progress.

"I hit [Saturday] and the day before, and [Sunday] I felt a little sore from hitting and running," Polanco said. "I have been doing everything, and I think it's a step forward."

Polanco is eligible to come off the disabled list on Wednesday. He conceded that it may be a little optimistic to expect that to happen.

"It might be too soon," he said. "Especially having a day off on Thursday, but I will talk to Charlie [Manuel] and see how things feel the next few days."

A bad hiccup?

Joe Blanton, whose stay on the disabled list due to right elbow inflammation is retroactive to May 16, continues to struggle in his rehabilitation.

"He had a little hiccup," Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said.

That "hiccup" kept Blanton from throwing his bullpen session on Saturday. Proefrock said Blanton could return to Philadelphia to see team physician Michael Ciccotti.

Proefrock admitted he's wondered if Blanton will pitch again this year.

"I can't say that thought hasn't crossed my mind," Proefrock said. "Until there is a definite diagnosis that says he is unable to pitch, we still have him in our plans."

More on injuries

Righthander Roy Oswalt continues to make progress in dealing with lower-back inflammation that has had him on the disabled list since June 24. Proefrock said Oswalt will throw a bullpen session Tuesday and tentatively again on Friday.

Righthander Jose Contreras (right forearm strain) will begin a throwing program on Tuesday, according to Proefrock.

Lidge, Victorino at Trenton

Centerfielder Shane Victorino (right thumb) went 1 for 3 and stole home Sunday during his second rehab game with double-A Reading in a 4-3 win at Trenton.

Victorino is eligible to come off the disabled list on Tuesday. Barring any unforeseen pain, he is expected to do so and play against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Brad Lidge (shoulder) pitched a scoreless inning in the same game, allowing two hits and striking out two. It was the first time he pitched in consecutive days in his rehab assignment.

Proefrock said he isn't sure when Lidge's next appearance will be, but last week Lidge indicated it could be Wednesday at single-A Lakewood.
