Rain and limited drainage had undermined the temporary grass sod laid over the artificial turf at Empire Field in preparation for Monday's exhibition between the Whitecaps and England's Manchester City, officials said.

SANTA FE, Argentina - Uruguay advanced to the Copa America semifinals with a penalty shootout victory over host Argentina on goalkeeper Fernando Muslera's stop of Carlos Tevez's kick.
The game, played in Santa Fe, ended 1-1 after regulation time and extra time. The final tally in the shootout was 5-4 for Uruguay.
Diego Perez gave Uruguay a surprise 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, but Gonzalo Higuain equalized in the 18th.
It was a bitter loss for Argentina, which was hoping to win its first major trophy in 18 years, and hoping to do it at home with Lionel Messi, the world's best player. Messi showed flashes but was unable to deliver.
Argentina's smaller neighbor again had the better side. In the World Cup in South Africa last year, Uruguay also reached the semifinals while Argentina exited after the quarterfinals.

CORDOBA, Argentina - Peru beat Colombia in extra time to reach the Copa semifinals for the first time since 1997.
Carlos Augusto Lobaton fired a shot from just inside the penalty area in the 101st minute and fellow midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas sealed the win with a shot from near the penalty spot in the 111th.
Colombia had the best chance to break the scoreless deadlock in regulation, but Radamel Falcao missed a penalty kick wide in the 65th minute.
