Pitching matchup: RHP Vance Worley (5-1, 2.15) at RHP Ryan Dempster (7-6, 4.68)

WORLEY VS. CUBS: Worley is coming off a win over the Mets in which he allowed four hits and four walks but struck out four and limited New York to one run in 5 innings. Worley has recorded a victory in each of his last three starts. Since rejoining the rotation on June 18, he is 5-0 with a 0.89 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 14 walks in 30 innings. He has never faced the Cubs.

PHILLIES VS. DEMPSTER: Dempster stumbled through a brutal April, finishing the month with a 9.58 ERA in six starts. Since then, however, he is 6-3 with a 2.95 ERA, 82 strikeouts and 24 walks in 88 innings over 14 starts. The Cubs have won 11 of those 14 games. The Phillies have not faced him yet this season, but are well-acquainted with the righthander. They went 1-1 against Dempster last year, scoring four runs in six innings of a 5-4 win in May, then scoring two runs in 6 innings of a 12-6 loss in July.

FYI: Centerfielder Shane Victorino returned to the lineup last night after a stint on the disabled list with a thumb sprain. Infielder Pete Orr was optioned to Lehigh Valley.
