Back-stress reliever

July 24, 2011

The BackJoy looks like a slim derriere cushion curved at the back, but it's actually an orthotic device designed to shift your pelvis forward, providing spinal support and relieving stress on your lower back. It works surprisingly well, considering it doesn't actually touch your back. It cradles your buttocks, with the curved part redirecting your body weight slightly forward. Just place the BackJoy on any seat, sit on it, take hold of the built-in rear handle, and scootch back until you feel the support. Made of flexible plastic with neoprene cushioning, the featherweight BackJoy fits easily into a wheeled carry-on or shoulder bag.

BackJoy is $39.95 at www.backjoy.com; 800-592-1770.
