The fans at Citizens Bank Park stood to applaud an opposing player Sunday. Chris Denorfia's catch in the seventh inning was that good.

Denorfia, inserted only after Cameron Maybin suffered a hip flexor injury in the fourth inning, robbed Raul Ibanez of a two-run home run. It ranked right up there with Aaron Rowand's face-plant into the wall among the best catches this ballpark has witnessed.

"It was just one of those things where the timing of everything was perfect," Denorfia said. "It was as fast as I could run, as far as I could, before the ball could hit the ground, and the wall just happened to be right there."

Asked if he could only tip his cap to Denorfia, Ibanez said: "Or I could throw it at him." - Matt Gelb
