IDs released in 3 slayings

Police today identified three men slain in separate shootings in the city on Monday.

Anthony Reid, 25, was one of three men shot just after midnight on the 1800 block of South 5th Street in South Philadelphia, police said.

Reid, who lived nearby on the 500 block of Moore Street, had been shot in the head was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:18 a.m., police said.

Of the two other men, an 18-year-old was treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and back and released and a 19-year-old remained in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

A man found shot dead at 2:28 a.m. 51st and Brown Streets in West Philadelphia was identified as Joseph Herndon, 49.

Herndon, who had been shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, lived nearby on the 5000 block of Ogden Street, police said.

Robert McDowell, 20, died on a neighbor's porch on the 1300 block of East Carey Street in the city's Harrowgate section about 9:15 p.m., police said.

He had been shot in the chest, abdomen and right arm, police said.

Investigators have not disclosed if they have established motives or identified possible suspects in any of the slayings.
