Delaware State Police say two Red Cross volunteers were attacked while trying to help victims of a weekend house fire in Milton, Del.
The workers were making lodging arrangements Saturday in the 17000 block of Pettyjohn Road when they were approached by a man and woman identified as Hosea Brown Jr., 71, and Clara Bailey, 51, both homeless in the Milton area, police said.
Brown began swinging a board at the volunteers, grabbed one by the arm, and yelled threatening comments, according to authorities. State police are investigating what prompted the alleged sudden outburst and said they did not know whether the couple had been victims of the fire.
