Oswalt ready to return to Phillies

MOOSIC, Pa. - Roy Oswalt felt good about his second rehab start Monday and declared himself ready to rejoin the Phillies rotation.

Oswalt pitched six innings and allowed seven hits and two runs, both earned as the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs beat the host Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees, 4-2, in the first game of a doubleheader at PNC Field.

Oswalt struck out four and walked two. Oswalt threw 94 pitches, 61 for strikes.

He fastball was consistently in the low 90s.

Oswalt said afterward that he is getting his strength back. He has not pitched since hurting his back on June 23 while pitching against the St. Louis Cardinals.

"My velocity is doing a lot better," Oswalt said. "Overall, my curveball was pretty decent, and I am getting back in shape."

When asked if there is any reason why he shouldn't start this weekend in San Francisco, Oswalt said, "I don't think so."
