Police in Upper Providence are looking for a bandit captured on surveillance video robbing a yogurt store armed with what appears to be a submachine gun.

The armed robbery of the Kiwi Yogurt at Providence Town Center occurred in the township's Collegeville section shortly after the store opened at noon on Saturday.

A white male dressed in a hoodie entered and pulled "a weapon resembling" a Heckler and Koch MP5 9mm submachine gun from a dark bag. He then ordered two patrons - a man and a little girl - and employees to the ground, police said.

Three female employees ran to the back of the store and out the rear door. The robber followed them, police say, and demanded that a woman sitting at a desk to open the store's safe. But the employee told the robber that she could not open the safe.

While the robber was in the back, a male patron hustled the little girl out of the store.

Returning to the front of the store with the employee, the bandit then ordered her to open the registers.

The robber emptied the cash drawers of $305, tossing the loot into a white, plastic Wal-Mart bag before fleeing in a blue sports car. Witnesses described the car as a blue Audi TT with a loud or modified exhaust system.

The robber appeared to be alone and his car was seen traveling West on High Street.

He is described as a white male, 18-27 years old, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing black sunglasses, black hoodie, black pants or "Skinny Jeans: and Vans or "Skater" Style sneakers.

Police are asking that anyone with information to contact Det. Sgt. Bill Dixon at 007dix@uprov-montco.org; or. Det. Ray Bechtel at 015bec@uprov-montco.org 610- 933-7899.
