There was still no word Tuesday about fellow wideout DeSean Jackson. The Pro Bowl receiver has been holding out of camp, presumably as part of an effort to land a new contract, though neither he nor his representatives have spoken about the issue.
The absence of the two top receivers had left quarterback Michael Vick throwing to Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, and Chad Hall in the first week of camp.
Jackson will have to report some time this month in order to accrue the credit he needs to be eligible for unrestricted free agency after this season. But the exact date has not been set because negotiations on the collective bargaining agreement are continuing.
Vick has been in touch with Jackson, he said Monday, but couldn't say when the receiver will arrive at camp.
"Everybody's just trying to get on the same page and create an understanding," Vick said. "DeSean, he has an upbeat attitude, very positive attitude right now, and I think he's going to handle the situation like a man. We've just got to sit back and see what happens. But we definitely want him here. We want him to be here, and we're looking forward to coming back."
With Maclin back, the Eagles will have all but one of their stars in camp, though not yet on the field.
Free agent signees Nnamdi Asomugha, Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins, and Vince Young are all barred from practicing until Aug. 4 under terms of the new collective bargaining agreement.
Day off. Those who have been practicing were thankful for the day off Tuesday, which was mandated by the new labor deal.
"This day off feels amazing. Thank u new cba! Hopefully I can get the spring back in my legs for 2morro" guard Todd Herremans wrote on Twitter.
"It's something that we're definitely not going to argue about," Vick said Monday.
Extra points. The Eagles sold out of their single-game tickets in less than one hour Tuesday, according to the team. . . . Vick said he and Young, his backup, have formed a quick bond. "I've been around for the last two days. I feel like I've known him forever," Vick said Monday. "He keeps me laughing, which is a good thing."
