Philly rapper Dice Raw, a longtime collaborator of The Roots, will star in and score "Relasume" (The Relationship Resume).
The indie romantic comedy will shoot entirely in town starting next month. It's written and directed by David L. Powell III and co-stars Tiphani Abney, of VH1's "Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch," and Jackie Doll from VH1's "Real Chance at Love 2," as well as local actors Anthony Horton and Keith Sgrillo. The film is produced by actress Jennifer Layne Park, who appears in the upcoming "Future Weather" and "Shadow of a Candle," the latter of which will screen during this weekend's This Is Hardcore Fest, taking place primarily at the Starlight Ballroom (460 N. 9th).
On Sunday, Park, a former member of Philly vampire punks Ink & Dagger, will take part in a dunk tank outside the Starlight, along with longtime show promoter Robby Redcheeks and Madball frontman Freddy Madball. Proceeds benefit the Salvation Army's Eliza Shirley House.
In other This Is Hardcore Fest news, "Riot on the Dance Floor," a documentary about the late, great Trenton rock club City Gardens, will be filming during Youth of Today's and Token Entry's sets Friday at the Starlight.
QFest producer Thom Cardwell is traveling the country for screenings of "What Happens Next," formerly known as "You Can't Have It All," which he co-wrote with partner and director Jay Arnold. The film, which stars Wendie Malick of "Hot in Cleveland" and "Just Shoot Me," was filmed entirely around Center City and Old City and premiered at QFest 2010.
Cardwell's bringing the film to the North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, the Rhode Island International Film Festival and FilmOUT San Diego. While traveling, Cardwell says he will be scouting films for the 2012 Q Fest next July.
Baller Bryant to wed
Congratulations to former St. Joe's hoopster John Bryant and fiancee Allison Agus, an accounting supervisor at Comcast, who will wed Friday at the Holy Eucharist Catholic Church in Cherry Hill.
Bryant, 28, a starting forward on the 2003-04 No. 1 team that produced future NBA players Jameer Nelson and Delonte West, says Agus "makes life worth living, always has a smile on her face and allows me to watch my cartoons." Bryant, who had been playing in the NBA Development League, is retired from playing because of a back injury but will now be assistant coach for the D-League's Bakersfield Jam.
