Abington’s Osei commits to Villanova

Citing the school's academic profile and the program's potential move to the Big East, Abington defensive end Bryan Osei has given an oral commitment to play at Villanova.

"I had a few Division I-A offers, but education comes before football," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior. "Also, it looks like the team will wind up playing in the Big East. That's exciting to me."

Osei also had scholarship offers from Kent State, Temple, Old Dominion, and Stony Brook. He took unofficial visits to Temple and Rutgers. His brother, David, a former standout at Abington, is a redshirt sophomore center at Rutgers.

"I want to make a name for myself," Bryan Osei said. "I've been in my brother's shadow the whole time I've been in high school."

The 17-year-old, also a standout wrestler, is projected to be a weakside defensive end in college.

Souderton's Javon White, a 5-10, 195-pound senior running back, gave a commitment to the Wildcats in July.
