Philly birthday guys: Brayden Schenn & Wayne Simmonds

Posted: August 22, 2011

BORN IN Canada three years and four days apart, traded from the Kings to the Flyers on the same day this June, new-to-us Brayden Schenn (left), a center, and Wayne Simmonds (right), a winger, celebrate their b-days this week. Today Schenn slap-shots 20 (no Molson for you!).

On Friday "Simmer" hat-tricks 23. The two still may be making their way to town - training camp starts in three weeks. But soon the former Kings will be princes of Philly, or at least studs of South Jersey. High above the ice, next year's stars will shine bright for Schenn, who'll dig his new home - and a certain lady friend.

As for Simmonds, the planets predict things can only get better, as intense focus in practice turns into major end-of-year drive.

Also scoring big this week: former Birds owner Norman Braman touches down 79 tomorrow. Actor Chris Burke's "Life Goes On" to 46 Friday. And, in Washington, D.C., Phils closer and new dad Ryan Madson tosses his 31st Sunday.

Let's hear it for the boys.
