NEW YORK Giants starting cornerback Terrell Thomas will likely miss the entire season after suffering a major injury to his right knee in the closing seconds in the first half of 41-13 preseaon win over the visiting Chicago Bears last night.

Thomas suffered a torn right anterior cruciate ligament after colliding with defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul with 22 seconds left in the half.

After the injury, Thomas tried to get up, but fell. He limped off the field, attended by the Giants medical staff.

A second-round pick out of Southern California in 2008, Thomas is in the final year of his contract.

"It is devastating," defensive end Justin Tuck told ESPN. "He was primed to have another great year for us. That's a big void."

Aaron Ross, also in the final year of his deal, probably will step into the starting lineup, along with Corey Webster.

Prince Amukamara, the Giants' first-round draft pick out of Nebraska, broke a foot in his first training camp practice a couple of week ago. He is not due back until midseason.

Noteworthy *

Oakland used a third-round pick in the NFL's supplemental draft to select former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor was the only player drafted as teams passed on making selections in the first two rounds.

The Raiders and the league announced that Oakland used the 18th selection of the round for Pryor. Oakland forfeits its third-round selection in the 2012 draft.

Pryor will not be eligible to practice with or play during the regular season until the team's sixth game. When he was allowed to enter the draft, he was handed a five-game suspension by commissioner Roger Goodell - the same number of games he would have sat out had he returned to Ohio State. Pryor has said he will not appeal the suspension.

Pryor gave up his final season with the Buckeyes after an investigation into the team's memorabilia-for-cash scandal that cost coach Jim Tressel his job.

* NFL defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth pleaded no contest to a charge of simple assault to resolve a case in which he was accused of touching a waitress' breast while having drinks with friends at a Washington hotel. If he stays out of trouble over the next 18 months and completes 160 hours of community service, prosecutors will drop the charge entirely. Haynesworth, who was recently traded from the Washington Redskins to the New England Patriots, appeared in D.C. Superior Court to enter his plea.
