Fri. Pa. girls’ roundup: Sicinski lifts Downingtown West

Brittany Sicinski got her senior year off to a blazing start in Friday afternoon's season opener as Downingtown West edged visiting Neshaminy, 3-2, in a nonleague girls' soccer match.

The senior center midfielder scored twice and later connected with Jen Wittick for the game-winner with 3 minutes left in the second half to knock off visiting Neshaminy, 3-2.

Wittick snuck the ball in past the near post off a Sicinski feed from the right end line.

Sicinski's first goal came off a Dana Sarcinello corner in the first half. Annie Messner made 10 saves for the Whippets.

In other nonleague action, Kayla Smith scored on a penalty kick with 7 minutes left in the second half as visiting Upper Perkiomen drew even with Mount St. Joseph, 1-1. Ashley DePaul scored in the first half for the Magic.

With 3 minutes left in the second half, Erin Mock drove home a cross from Cassidy Rajkowski as St. Hubert downed host Bensalem, 1-0.

Shayna Orr turned away 10 shots to help Sun Valley cling to a scoreless tie with visiting Harriton.

Karleigh Yori scored twice, including the game-winner at 2:15 into the first overtime as Ridley edged host Kennett, 3-2.

Senior Katrina Geiger provided all the scoring for host Haverford as the Fords knocked off Merion Mercy, 4-1.

Host North Penn scored twice in the first half on their way to a 3-0 victory over Lansdale Catholic. Lizzy Kohler opened the scoring 5 minutes into the first half.

Meredith Crilley scored twice as visiting New Hope-Solebury cruised to a 3-0 win over host Upper Moreland.

Lower Merion and host Perkiomen Valley played to a scoreless tie. Ticketed for Boston College, Emily Armstrong made 13 saves for the Vikings.

Abington Friends held onto a 2-0 first half lead as they downed visiting Phil-Mont Christian, 2-1. Alexa Bowman and Sarah Nourie scored for the Kangaroos.

Megan Tracewell scored in the first half off an assist by Jackie Glanfield as host Garnet Valley downed Avon Grove, 2-0.

Sydney Mitchell scored twice in the first half as Penncrest scored four unanswered goals on way to a 4-1 win over visiting Interboro.

Springfield (Delaware County) and visiting Cardinal O'Hara traded overtime goals as the teams played to a 2-2 tie. Erin Gamble scored in the first overtime for O'Hara and Leanna Cunrod knocked home the equalizer in the second overtime for Springfield.

Tory Adlam and Mary Kate Bateman both scored twice to lead host Hatboro-Horsham past Unionville, 5-2. Lindsey Day made six saves for the Hatters.
