Sat. Pa. football roundup: Comeback win for Hatboro-Horsham

Hatboro-Horsham quarterback Aaron Channing scored on a goal-line dive with 3 minutes to play in the fourth quarter to change host Frankford's halftime elation into disappointment with a 27-26 nonleague loss on Saturday.

Frankford led by 26-0 at halftime as senior wideout Savoy Martin hauled in three touchdowns in the first half, including a 75-yard score in the opening quarter.

Hatboro-Horsham rebounded by capitalizing on the Pioneers' three fumbles and a muffed punt in the second half.

Dom DeFabio scored twice for the Hatters, including a 63-yard pass by Channing in the fourth quarter.

St. Joseph's Prep 49, St. Marguerite 7 - Prep whipped the visitors from Canada as quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg completed 11 of 15 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score.

The Hawks scored all of their points in the first half, including two touchdowns each from Eric Medes and John Reid.

Washington 26, Chestnut Hill 7 - A pair of second-quarter touchdown runs from Hakeem Sillman gave Washington a 26-0 halftime lead against the visiting Blue Devils.

Sillman ran for 124 of the Eagles' 229 rushing yards, and the Washington defense kept CHA off the scoreboard until Mike Hayes scored with 3:53 to play.

Pope John Paul II 32, Berks Catholic 21 - John Cherneskie scored on a 46-yard run up the middle in the fifth minute of the game, sparking host PJP to a win over Berks Catholic, the merged school between Holy Name and Reading Central Catholic.

Cherneskie finished with 88 yards rushing on 11 carries, and David Cotellese completed 12 of 22 passes for 260 yards and three TDs, including 172 to Jared Siejk.

Nick DiPrinzio added 37 yards and a touchdown for the winners.

Haverford School 26, Pennridge 21 - Zach Rego's third touchdown of the game was an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter that rallied host Haverford School from a 21-20 deficit against the Rams.

Rego also scored on an 11-yard run and a 30-yard interception return, and Aaron Morgan kicked a pair of field goals.

For Pennridge, Matt Pasquale threw a pair of touchdown passes, and Mike Class returned a kickoff 90 yards for the TD that put Pennridge ahead at the end of the third period.

Valley Forge 40, Virginia Lions 6 - Don Davis scored twice in the opening period on short runs, and Chris Barrett launched a 60-yard TD strike to Rashaad Williams, highlighting the Cadets' win over the visiting home-school squad.

Williams also scored the game's first touchdown on a 22-yard run, igniting a four-touchdown first quarter.

Matt Dence notched the win in his debut as Valley Forge's coach.
